It’s been a long week for us. We took the load from Chicago to Laredo, then relocated to Dallas, but from what they are telling us, Texas is just a hard place to get out of these days. We stayed in Da
llas from Thursday through today (Monday), then asked for an empty move. We are now on our way to Memphis, where there seems to be more freight than there are trucks. Dallas would have been nicer if it hadn’t been so cold. We ended up hooking up to Idle Aire at the TA. That’s a system that hooks up to your passenger window and includes a heating/cooling vent, internet access, television channels, movies, and news. It makes it a lot nicer to sleep in here at night when it gets really hot or cold. We were so bored that we watched 5 or 6 movies, 4 of them on the DVD player in the truck, and two at the Cinema. We saw “I am Legend” with Will Smith, which was strange, but good, and “The Bucket List” with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, which we really enjoyed. Both are clean, decent movies, and “The Bucket List” had a good message. We went to the Olive Garden, too, so that made it a nice day. :0) We’re developing quite a DVD library by hitting the $5 rack at WalMarts across the country.
We got to see Doug, Jonathan, and Ashley while we were coming back through New Braunfels. We “kidnapped” them and ran over to Ballinger in the Jeep to look at a piece of property that we were interested in. We’ll see how that pans out. Anyway, we had a good time with them even though we were all wiped out when we got back to New Braunfels. We went to the IHOP at about 1am – not the best time to eat, but since we were all so sleepy, it was funny anyway and great to visit with them.
I’m learning all about Moodle – the software platform that WTC used to deliver online instruction. I worked with it some at Sul Ross, as well as with Blackboard, but this version is a little bit different. I’m sure glad to have Internet access on the road. Otherwise, it would be nearly impossible to teach the online courses.
It’s raining right now – we’re somewhere between Dallas and Texarkana, but at least it’s not freezing. Maybe they’ll keep us farther south until the winter months are passed, but I doubt it. I know that pictures are much more interesting than anything I have to say, but there hasn’t been much to snap shots of lately. We’ll see what tomorrow brings. I hope you are all well. We love you . . .
