We're sitting in Columbia, South Carolina right now waiting for our next offer.

We've seen some beautiful country over the past week, including parts of North and South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee. I'm including a few pictures we took this week, including one of a truck that went over a bridge near Mallard Point in Decatur, Alabama - EEK!

The paddle steamer was a floating casino on the banks of the Mississippi in Clinton, Iowa - no, we didn't gamble, but thought the boat was interesting. It seems like every place we've been to over the past week or so has been on the banks of the Mississippi. We've decided that the old muddy river with the "Black Water" must still hold a significant place in American commerce. Jim thought the picture where he's trying to keep my hair from blowing in my face was just TOO funny! If you've ever had to set a timer on a camera, then run and jump in the picture and try to look like you'd been there all along, then you know how I feel.

More later . . .

Howdy ya'll

Hope this finds the truckin' duo doing well. Are you seeing any pretty country during the autumn or have you been sent back to Laredo a 3rd time? I reset all my stuff with Google so hopefully this one goes through.

Things are about the same here as always. We finally got the SACS visit over with. If you have never done that, you aren't missing anything. I actually thought that part of their visit was to give advice and discourse on how to improve our college's and faculty's performance. It seemed to be more of an attempt to criticize, denigrate and be rude. Oh well, at least that part is over and now we can respond to their final report when it comes in and go from there. Several of us took some knocks but nothing lethal.

We went to Dallas last weekend and Sarah, Audra and I ran in a 5K run for a chidren's heart benefit. Did OK for about 2 miles then my right knee went out and had to walk the last mile back in severe pain. I put up with it till Wed thinking it would get better but finally went to Dr Thompson and got a steroid shot in it and it's a lot better now. Hopefully, it will be back in shape in time for the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot there. Last year that thing had 31,000 runners in it. What a trip!

Guess I'll close. Keep in touch and take care of each other. Maybe we'll get a chance to visit yet.
